The Opportunity:
The Board of Directors of Gitga’at Development Corporation (GDC) provides strategic leadership, oversight, and governance to grow the assets and or income stream of the GDC for the long-term sustainability of the shareholder.
GDC is looking for a candidate to join our Board of Directors to provide strategic direction, financial oversight, and governance in alignment with the organization’s strategic framework and plan.
Position Summary:
Board members provide strategic direction and oversight for the corporation, ensuring its activities align with the strategic plan. Supporting major decisions, monitoring performance and upholding good governance. Key duties will include:

Qualifications and Experience:
• Experience in working with Indigenous Governments and/or communities.
• Previous experience as a Board Director, with corporate governance responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience in business, economic development, governance, finance, or related fields.
• Strong financial acumen including ability to understand, monitor, read and interpret financial reports
• Preferred designation for this opportunity CPA, ICD.D MBA, C.Dir., or relevant professional designation.
• Strong business connections and networks
Term Commitment and Compensation:
• Typical term: 2 years, with the possibility of renewal.
• Board meetings: - 4 quarterly meetings plus committee meetings if required.
• Most meetings are virtual with the AGA in person in either Prince Rupert or Hartley Bay.
• Preparation time: reviewing materials, financials, strategic documents, etc.
• Attendance at community meetings, conferences or business events may be requested.
• Honorariums provided.

About the Development Corporation:
The Gitga’at Development Corporation (GDC) is the economic development arm of the Gitga’at First Nation. GDC is responsible for building economic opportunity from the ground up including initiatives in the local community and beyond in Northern BC.
Position Summary:
The Executive Assistant contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively carrying out administrative and support functions. This role focuses on providing the CEO with professional, effective and timely assistance and solutions to administrative requirements. As a key front line senior staff member, the Executive Assistant must have excellent critical-thinking, organizational and people skills. This position will have numerous contacts with a wide variety of organizations, including government and non-government agencies, industry and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performs day-to-day administrative/clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, faxing, processing correspondence, reports, emails and electronic filing of key documentation.
2. Prepares for meetings including organizing agendas, notifications, compiling documents and preparing Board Packages.
3. Tracks action items and deadlines, provides reminders, as necessary.
4. Coordinates meetings and/or travel schedules and makes travel arrangements.
5. Answers incoming telephone calls and addresses visitors, directs inquiries, provides information, screens calls, sets up appointments, and takes messages as required.
6. Assistance with special projects, including conducting research and coordinating reports for final approval by CEO.
7. Maintains databases and other computerized files, including the electronic filing system.
8. Takes minutes at Board and specific meetings; types and disseminates minutes to appropriate parties.
Qualifications:
Education: Post-secondary education in Public or Business Administration or a related field or proven combined experience in lieu of education.
Experience: Four to six years of senior administration assistance or project coordination experience.
Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in the use of computer programs Microsoft Office Suite, databases systems, spreadsheets, emails and the internet to the intermediate level, capable of using many functions and feel confident using the programs. Must have strong administrative, organizational and communication skills.
Compensation: $65,000-$75,000 The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience. Comprehensive benefits package.

Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading, optimizing, and coordinating the daily operations of the corporation, with a dual focus on internal corporate functions and the oversight of business entities. This role ensures operational efficiency, drives process improvements, supports strategic initiatives, and maintains alignment between corporate objectives and the needs of individual business entities. The Operations Manager works closely with Chief Executive Officer (CEO), contractors, and small-business managers to ensure smooth, scalable, and compliant operations across the corporation.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
• Supervise and mentor operational staff and business managers.
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance management.
Strategic Planning & Execution
• Collaborate with CEO to develop operational strategies aligned with corporate goals.
• Lead operational planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
Business Operations Oversight
• Provide operational leadership and support to business entities within the corporation.
• Monitor performance metrics, financial health, and operational workflows for each business.
Internal Corporate Operations
• Oversee day-to-day internal operations, including administration, facilities, procurement, and internal workflows.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degrees in business administration, operations management, or related field. (MBA is preferred)
Experience: 5-10 plus years of experience in operations management, preferable in a corporate environment.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience. Comprehensive benefits package. Travel may occur on a limited basis.
