Notice of Passing – Steven Blacklock

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gitga’at Development Corporation board member, Steven Blacklock.

After a 40+ year career in finance and business leadership, including serving as a Chief Financial Officer, Steven continued to share his expertise in support of the Gitga’at Nation’s economic development. His work across industries such as forestry, mining, fishing, and local government made him a valuable advisor, while his dedication to Indigenous economic development reflected his deep commitment to community.

Steven was not only a respected leader and mentor but also a thoughtful, compassionate, and generous person. His guidance and commitment left a lasting impact on those around him. He will be remembered for his integrity and unwavering dedication to making a difference for the Nation.
